This retreat takes place over Nyepi, a day of silent reflection and introspection. This is the holiest day of the year for Balinese Hindus. The celebration of the new year is an opportunity to contemplate meditate and be still. We are invited to review the year past and renew our spirit for the year to come. We practice together with two workshop-style classes per day and philosophy discussion in the evening.

  • A wonderful opportunity to observe this festival that dates back to 78A.D. The start of the “Caka” year – the Balinese New Year is celebrated by the Hindus over a period of six days. On the eve of Nyepi we will drive to a near by regional center to have a picnic and see the Ogoh in action. Large paper mache demons are paraded through the town accompanied by young people and loud traditional music. The atmosphere is electric, you wont want to miss this !
